Cultural Explosion/Creu Cyfle was Wales’s unique celebration of the expansion of the EU to embrace 10 new member states. The only project in Britain to secure funding from the EU for this purpose, the event harnessed the talents of children and adults in Wales in dance, poetry, music, film and the visual arts. Their efforts were showcased at a special concert in the Galeri, Caernarfon in February 2006, which also saw performances by artists from a number of accession countries.

The weekend event also included a conference addressed by senior EU officials, and UK Government, academic and creative industry representatives on the topic A Creative Road Map for Europe.
